Responsible Gambling
We support responsible gambling and encourage you to play safely.
Set limits. Decide how much time and money you can afford before you play. Stick to your limits and never chase losses.
Get help if you need it. If gambling is affecting your life, free support is available. GamCare (gamcare.org.uk), BeGambleAware (gambleaware.org), and GamStop (gamstop.co.uk) offer advice, self-exclusion, and counselling. We link to these organisations in our footer.
Stay in control. Gambling should be fun. Take regular breaks, don’t play when upset or under the influence, and keep it in balance with other activities. You must be 18 or over to gamble in the UK. For more information or if you have concerns, contact info@brit-ember.com.
What Is Responsible Gambling
Responsible gambling means gambling in a way that stays under your control and does not harm you, your family, or others. It involves setting limits on how much time and money you spend, understanding that gambling is a form of entertainment and not a way to make money, and knowing when to stop. Responsible gambling also means not gambling when you are underage, when you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, when you are upset or stressed, or when you are trying to win back money you have lost. Operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission are required to offer tools and information to help you gamble responsibly; we encourage you to use them.
Setting and Keeping Limits
Before you play, decide how much money you can afford to lose and how long you will play. Set a budget and stick to it. Many sites allow you to set deposit limits, loss limits, or session time limits; once set, these can help you stay within your budget. Never exceed the limits you set, and never chase losses by increasing your stakes or playing longer in the hope of winning back what you have lost. Chasing losses often leads to bigger losses and can be a sign of problem gambling. If you find it hard to stick to limits, consider self-exclusion or seek support.
Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can affect anyone. Signs may include: spending more money or time on gambling than you intended; gambling to escape worries or to feel better; lying to family or friends about gambling; borrowing money or selling things to gamble; feeling anxious, irritable, or guilty about gambling; or finding it hard to stop or cut down. If you recognise these signs in yourself or someone close to you, it is important to seek help. Problem gambling can lead to debt, relationship breakdown, and mental health issues, but support is available and recovery is possible.
Where to Get Help
In the UK, several organisations offer free, confidential support. GamCare provides advice, emotional support, and counselling; you can contact them at gamcare.org.uk or on their helpline. BeGambleAware (gambleaware.org) provides information and signposting to treatment. GamStop (gamstop.co.uk) is a free self-exclusion scheme that allows you to exclude yourself from all UK-licensed online gambling sites for a chosen period. We link to these organisations in our footer. Your GP can also help and may refer you to specialist services. If you are in crisis, please contact a crisis helpline such as Samaritans.
Self-Exclusion
Self-exclusion means asking to be barred from gambling for a period of time. You can self-exclude from individual operators (via their websites or customer support) or from all UK-licensed online operators at once via GamStop. During the exclusion period, the operator(s) will not allow you to gamble. Self-exclusion is a useful tool if you feel you need a break or want to stop gambling. It is free and confidential. If you have self-excluded and need further support, contact GamCare or BeGambleAware.
Underage Gambling
Gambling in the UK is restricted to people aged 18 and over. It is illegal for anyone under 18 to gamble, and operators are required to verify age. We do not encourage or permit underage use of our site or of any linked operator. If you are under 18, please do not attempt to access gambling sites. If you are a parent or guardian and are concerned that a minor may be gambling, contact the relevant operator or seek advice from the organisations listed above.
